WEST PALM BEACH, Fla (CBS12) — A new museum and library is set to revitalize a historic African American neighborhood in West Palm Beach.

A $500,000 grant from Quantum Fiber will support architectural planning for the Museum and Library, which will be built on the site of the historic Roosevelt High School.

"These neighborhoods, which reflect the lowest life expectancy in Palm Beach County, are home to some of the most extraordinary cultural landmarks," explained Eric Kelly, president of Quantum Foundation. "While we’ve made strides, there is still much work to be done in addressing the underlying systems that impact this community."

The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties is spearheading the new African American Museum and Research Library Fund.
