Job Title: Culture Yard Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Community and Housing

Position Type: Contract The Culture Yard Coordinator serves as the on-the-ground steward of RISE Coleman Park's Culture Yard, located at the historic Phyllis Wheatley Library site on Tamarind Avenue. This contracted position is responsible for the coordination, activation, and stewardship of the Culture Yard, ensuring it operates as a welcoming, well-maintained, and consistently programmed community hub that reflects the priorities, traditions, and voices of Coleman Park residents. The Culture Yard Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing RISE Coleman Park’s mission by connecting families to early learning, behavioral health, economic opportunity, and community wellness resources year-round.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Scheduling & Event Coordination

  • Manage the Culture Yard calendar, coordinating scheduling for all events, programming, and partner activations.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for community organizations and groups seeking to use the space.

  • Ensure events are well-organized, properly set up, and run smoothly from start to finish.

  • Support culturally responsive programming that reflects the traditions, priorities, and needs of Coleman Park residents.

  • Cultivate partnerships with early learning providers, behavioral health organizations, and community-based nonprofits to expand programming reach.

Event Supervision

  • Supervise all on-site events and activities, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for residents, partners, and guests.

  • Coordinate with vendors, community partners, and volunteers as needed to support successful programming.

  • Serve as the Culture Yard's visible, consistent presence during all programming hours.

  • Monitor event activities to ensure alignment with RISE's community values and resident-centered approach.

Property Management & Stewardship

  • Oversee the overall upkeep and appearance of the Culture Yard property, maintaining a clean, inviting, and safe environment.

  • Manage landscaping coordination to ensure the grounds are consistently well-maintained.

  • Open and secure the property, ensuring the space is properly locked and protected when not in use.

  • Identify and promptly report any maintenance, safety, or security concerns to RISE leadership.

  • Maintain accurate records of property use, incidents, and maintenance needs.


Community Engagement & Communications

  • Conduct outreach to Coleman Park residents to promote Culture Yard programming, events, and volunteer opportunities.

  • Support RISE's communications efforts by providing timely updates, photos, and community stories from Culture Yard activities.

  • Build and maintain relationships with residents, partner organizations, and community stakeholders.

  • Represent RISE Coleman Park with professionalism and a deep commitment to resident voice and community empowerment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Commitment to the mission of RISE Coleman Park and the empowerment of Coleman Park.

  • Demonstrated connection to and respect for the Coleman Park community and West Palm Beach's Northend.

  • At least two (2) years of experience in event coordination, community programming, facilities management, or a related field.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities independently.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as programming requires.

  • Self-directed, reliable, and resourceful with a solution-oriented mindset.

  • Passion for place-based community development, resident empowerment, and neighborhood transformation.

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including email and scheduling tools.

COMPENSATION

This is a contracted position. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
